Kingfisher Powercats at RBS Marine

RBS Marine bring to the Southampton Boat Show, 15th-24th September 2017, the Kingfisher Minicat 450 and the Kingfisher 10m Catamaran on berths M136 and M136A.
The Minicats and Powercats up to 6.7m are all outboard powered and RBS Marine have chosen Suzuki Outboards for their first units, though other engine options are available. Unlike many other powered catamarans, the Minicats are driven by single outboards mounted between the two hulls. Designer Kim Bertelsen put much time and thought into this process; "We've done plenty of experimenting with the tunnels and the characteristics of the hulls and deadrise. We've also come up with a good way to help direct water flow over the propeller and avoid cavitation". This ensures that there is no ventilation to the propellers and no problem getting the boats up on to the plane - the boats go exceptionally well with modest horsepower. The Kingfisher 620 and 670 Powercats are driven by twin outboards, and the Kingfisher 10m Catamaran has twin inboard diesel engines.
Ben Stevens, Managing Director at RBS Marine, said “We’ve been looking for a great quality entry level boat for some time, and we’ve been seriously impressed by the design of Kingfisher Catamarans and workmanship by PDL Fabrications. We pride ourselves on our reputation for quality and strength of build that we have gained through our longstanding relationship with Rodman Polyships, and it was essential for us that any new brand supported this ethos completely. We just know that these boats will be well received by the UK leisure and commercial markets alike and we can’t wait to show off these exciting new boats”.
Mooring costs can be kept to a minimum, as the Minicats and Powercats all come with optional trailers, ideal for storage ashore and at home. The trailers are unique to Kingfisher Powercats as they are all aluminium and specifically designed for catamarans.
These versatile boats are a fantastic platform for recreational and commercial fishing, coastal leisure cruising, as launches, for transporting goods and as maintenance vessels for marine businesses. The beauty of boats built from aluminium is that the design can be modified to suit almost any requirement, without the expense of new mouldings needed in GRP construction. RBS Marine are delighted to have already had interest from both leisure and commercial customers, with three boats already on order.
