Rodman marked 50 years in building boats at a special event held at their shipyard in Vigo, Spain. Rodman’s founder and president Manuel Rodriguez addressed guests including those from authorities, dealers and other collaborators; “This anniversary sets a milestone in our history and reaffirms our commitment to continue building vessels that blend innovation, quality and respect for the environment, with our focus on a sustainable and competitive future in the shipbuilding industry. We are also working on the digitalisation of design and production processes and on research into advanced materials to improve the performance and durability of the vessels,’ he pointed out.
Rodman looked back on their achievements; having built over 15,000 vessels over 50 years, they have become the oldest company in the sector in Spain. Much like the reputation that follows their boats, the Rodman shipyard have made safe passage through plenty of metaphorical stormy seas in this time. They have consolidated themselves as a leader in the manufacture of GRP boats, having built one of the largest vessels worldwide in this material in their 138 Offshore Patrol Vessel. Supplying both commercial and recreational vessels to over 65 countries, they have built passenger catamarans, patrol boats, work boats, supply vessels and of course recreational cruisers and fishers.
As well as looking back on their achievements, Rodman are excited to look forward to the future. Projects include the development of vessels with hybrid and electric propulsion systems, new models of patrol boats of up to 50 metres in length with heliport, and the design of state-of-the-art yachts and mega yachts which seek to meet the demands of a constantly evolving market and which will be a benchmark in terms of technology, comfort and exclusivity.
Ben Stevens from RBS Marine, UK importers for Rodman Boats, was delighted to attend the event; “We have been involved with Rodman for 20 of their 50 years in boat building, and we couldn’t be happier to see them reach this milestone. We have seen many wonderful boats come from the shipyard, through us and on to families in the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands that have had fabulous boating adventures, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with this quality brand as they conquer new seas”.
